The European Union is a trading bloc with twenty five Member States. The European single market was established in 1993 and the single currency, the Euro, was launched in 1999. The EU member states maintain a common external tariff and tariffs are not payable on intra-EU trade.

The European Union's mission is to organise relations between the Member States and between their peoples in a coherent manner and on the basis of solidarity.
