• The republic of Yemen is a country in southwest Asia, located on the southwestern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.
• It is bounded on the north by Saudi Arabia, on the east by the Oman, on the south by the gulf of Aden and on the west by the Red Sea.
• Yemen is divided into five regions: Mountainous, Coastal Plateaus, Al-Rub, Al-Khali and a group of Islands.
• Yemen covers an area of about 555,000 km2.

Capital:

• Sana’a - Political and Historical Capital.
• Aden - Economic and Commercial Capital.
• Other cities include Hodeidah, Mukalla and Taiz.

The metric system is utilised.
