Kuwaits major exports include chemical products, crude oil, fuel,
miscellaneous manufactured goods, petroleum products and synthetic lubricants,
while the major
imports include animals, chemical products, construction equipment, food
ingredients, machinery, miscellaneous manufactured goods, textiles and knitwear
and transport equipment.
There is no exchange control and residents and non-residents may freely
purchase and sell foreign currencies in Kuwait. Imports from any permitted
source may be paid freely.
Licences are issued freely (except for wheat and flour) to registered Kuwait
companies and there are no free ports or free trade zones. Kuwaits
parliament has passed a bill to establish a free trade zone at Shuwaikh Port.
