Only around 0.65 Mt pulp are derived from UK managed forests (around 10% of available land is forested), representing only 8% of pulp needed. The UK is thus Europes second largest importer of paper and board, with timber products, including woodpulp and paper goods, representing the UKs third biggest import.
Waste paper pulp comprises around 60% of UKs raw material feed, with over 25% being imported from countries such as the USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland and Brazil.
