Algeria is provides one of the larger markets for lubricants in Africa. These are manufactured using locally refined base oils which are produced at the Arzew refinery by the Sonatrach subsidiary, Enterprise Nationale de Raffinage des Produits Petroliers (Naftec). The refinery has a capacity of 120 thousand tonnes per year. The distribution and marketing of lubricants is handled by Naftal.
