According to the 2008 BP Statistical Energy Survey, North America had proven oil reserves of 69.294 billion barrels at the end of 2007 or 5.59 % of the world's reserves. According to the same survey, North America produced an average of 13664.8 thousand barrels of crude oil per day in 2007 and consumed an average of 25024.26 thousand barrels a day.

According to the 2008 BP Statistical Energy Survey, North America had 2007 proved natural gas reserves of 7.97 trillion cubic metres, 4.49% of the world total. In 2007 North America had natural gas production of 775.8 billion cubic metres and consumption of 800.95 billion cubic metres.

North America had a 2007 refinery capacity of 20970.27 thousand barrels a day, 23.85% of the world total.
