The landlocked West African country of Burkina Faso has no known hydrocarbon resources and therefore no upstream oil industry. Its downstream oil industry is totally dependent on imported refined petroleum products.

The industry is regulated by the Ministry of Geology, Energy and Mines. The current Minister of Energy is Dr Gomkoudgou Zougrana.
