The countrys industry is concentrated in the larger cities of Maputo, Matola, Beira and Nampula. Light industry covers the areas of light engineering, food industries, textiles, brewing, soft drinks, chemicals, cement, oils, soaps and others. The food industries, beverages and tobacco account for 62% of the overall structure of the sector. Construction is planned of major industrial units (mainly aluminium, iron and steel), which will alter the configuration and importance of the sector.
