Kazakhstan is the world’s second largest producer, after South Africa. Kazakhstan's biggest chrome producer, the Donskoy GOK or mining complex from the region of Aktyubinsk, produced 2.6 Mt of chromite ore in 2000. Kazchrome Transnational Co (KCM) is Kazakhstan's national chrome corporation.

Russia does not produce significant amounts of chrome, producing only 130 000t eac year.
