The health care industry includes the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and the development of medical equipment and instruments. The scope for exports of pharmaceutical products is particularly large in the COMESA region and has already motivated international companies to start operations in Mauritius.
Products such as gelatine capsules, bulk drugs, medicaments, disposable syringes, perfusers and diffusers are presently being manufactured in Mauritius for export.
