The plastics industry in Africa comprises polymer producers, polymer processors, plastics converters and plastics recyclers, although not all countries are equally well developed in all stages of the industry chain.
Polymer can be produced in a handful of countries, including Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia, and there is a proliferation of plastics converters throughout Africa, from very small, basic, 'backyard' operations to large, highly sophisticated companies.
Products commonly manufactured are pipe, cable and packaging.
