Sugar cane is grown on 90% of Mauritius' cultivated land and accounts for about a quarter of the country's export earnings. At one time Mauritius was dependent on sugar production, but this industry is rapidly being replaced by the tourism and textile industries. Other agricultural products include: sugarcane, tea, corn, potatoes, bananas, pulses; cattle, goats and fish .
